This impressive bronze sculpture represents the Chimera from Greek mythology. It has been faithfully reproduced on a smaller scale and placed on a noble marble base.

Like all of our bronze sculptures, this one was made using the traditional lost wax casting process, the so-called "lost mold". It was then refined with a high-quality patina in several steps to achieve its unique coloring.

Historical background:
The Chimera of Arezzo, a famous example of Etruscan art, was discovered in 1553 during construction work near Arezzo in Tuscany. The fire-breathing monster of Greek mythology, which plagued Lycia, was defeated by the hero Bellerophon with the help of the winged horse Pegasus. Today The original sculpture is in the National Archaeological Museum in Florence.
