This impressive eagle statue was masterfully handcrafted and signed by Barye. It impresses with its elegant depiction and elaborate patination.

Re-casting in reference to a bygone era

The statue was made using the traditional lost wax method, also known as "lost mold." This millennia-old method is the most complex and highest quality method for producing bronze sculptures. After the bronze casting is released from the mold, the complex chasing process begins, in which exhaust air ducts are removed and possibly multi-part sculptures are precisely welded together.

The surfaces of the sculpture are then reworked with artistic care using scrapers, punches, chisels, files, grinding and polishing tools. The finest details such as facial features, muscles and ornaments are worked out until the sculpture takes on its final appearance. The individual finish is completed with the final patination.
